Background
Alex is an attorney with a wide array of experience. Since joining the bar in 2017, Alex has represented clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts, arbitrations, and state administrative proceedings. His practice at Oldham Law Office includes representing plaintiffs in state and federal employment litigation, individuals before professional licensing boards, and labor unions before state labor boards and arbitrators. He also advises union clients on matters that impact contract negotiation and administration.

Before applying to law school, Alex worked various jobs, including as a retail cashier, a used bookseller, a seasonal worker on small organic farms, and as an AmeriCorps member, rebuilding homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy. This breadth of work experience helps him understand the day-to-day work lives of his clients and the issues they can face with management.

Alex began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Karin Immergut at the Multnomah County Circuit Court. He then spent several years at the Oregon Innocence Project, representing incarcerated Oregonians challenging their wrongful convictions. During the same time, he was a staff attorney for the Oregon Justice Resource Center’s Civil Rights Project, litigating civil rights cases in federal court. He has also served as second- or third-chair for several state prisoners challenging capital sentencing.

When not working to protect and strengthen workers’ rights, Alex can be found gardening, reading, or spending time with his dog, cats, and backyard chickens. He also regularly volunteers with the PCC Clear Clinic, providing pro bono assistance to Oregonians looking to expunge their criminal records and remove barriers to housing and employment.
